Legends FC Honors the success of 29 athletes moving on to the collegiate level at annual College Night

On March 1, 2017, several hundred members of the extended Legends family joined together in the large ball room of the Diamond Bar Center in Diamond Bar, California for the annual Legends College Night. This is a much anticipated annual event where an ever growing class of Legends players celebrate their acceptance by an elite level collegiate soccer program and are honored by the Legends family. College Night for these young athletes marks the end of their time at Legends, but the beginning of their collegiate athletic and academic careers. For many of these players their athletic accomplishments have opened the door to significant scholarships, enabling them to attend the university that may have been out of reach for them.

“For these young women, College Night caps thousands of hours of hard work and dedication, resulting in a huge accomplishment, the chance to play at the next level and access to an athletic scholarship. The 29 girls in the Class of 2017 are leaving a long lasting legacy for our club program. We are sad to see them go but are excited to see what their futures hold. I am confident that the characteristics these girls have displayed through their years in the Legends program will guarantee them to be successful not just on the field but in their careers too, ” said Josh Hodges, Executive Director, Legends FC.

The Legends program seeks to develop its athletes both on and off the field and help them to realize their full potential. All the young women that celebrated their acceptance at the college of their choice at College Night have been supported and assisted throughout the process by Legends coaches and staff. This has meant assisting them in understanding the recruitment process, connecting them with coaches around the country, and preparing them to perform at the elite level through the most robust soccer skills development program in Southern California.

“The Legends coaches truly understand the college recruitment process and make their understanding and relationships with decision makers at the next level available to us. My coach worked with me to develop my athletic skills, but also encouraged me early on in my career to set my sights on playing at the college level and helped me at every step to make this dream a reality,” said Denae Antoine, Legends player and future UC Berkeley player.
