LEGENDS WOMEN WIN 2-1
Legends Men Take 1-2 Loss

"I’m inspired," remarked Legends Mens Coach, Phil Wolf as he stepped onto the field for the warm-up. He had just witnessed the womens team pull off their first win of the season, scoring 2 goals in the final 15 minutes of the final league match. After allowing a goal from the Ventura County Fusion in the 12th minute,  the Legends remained down 1-0 until the 75th minute.

Theresa Broad, a player who had been injured for the majority of the season, came off the bench at the half, threaded her way through the Fusion defense and fired a low-driven ball just inside the post (assist to Lauren Brown). With the score tied up 1-1 the game was once again on the line with both teams fighting for the final points in the standings.

However, the LA Legends notched the game winning goal on a well-executed free-kick in the 87th minute. A Fusion player had been shown a yellow card inside the box. The Legends put the ball down, giving a quick pass to Lauren Brown who easily finished the goal.

The LA Legends Men were down 2-0 until the 40th minute when Andrew Villalobos scored the only Legends goal (assist to Davis Paul). Despite a 2-1 loss to the Fusion, it was an exciting night for the Legends organization. A highlight of the evening was the presence of the Fox Sports Channel, fiming for upcoming episodes of the United Soccer League’s tv show "Breakaway."

Fox Sports was drawn to the Legends because of the top to bottom structure which includes nearly 50 elite youth club teams as well as the W-League and PDL teams. Few youth soccer clubs in Southern California boast a similar system. The shows are scheduled to air on Fox Sports in August and September.
