LA Legends Women vs. Pali Blues
Saturday, May 9, 2009
This was Kaufman’s coaching debut for the Legends. She and her current staff of Ali Malaekeh, Kristi Kiely, and Chris Swift have had limited training in preparation to the game against the Blues. They were able to put together a roster and game plan to compete against the reigning champions.

“We have some mature Christians on the team, and some non Christians who are seeking.” Head coach Twila Kaufman stated. “We are united in soccer as well as our commitment to each other. This team is not for everybody. We want high level players, but more important high level people.

Last season the Blues beat the Legends 3-1 and 4-0 on their way to the championship. The Legends are hoping that the 2-1 loss in a sign that they are moving in the right direction. “The players absorbed a lot of information quickly and rose to the occasion. I was really pleased with their effort.” Said Kaufman

“The past year the Blues set the standard in which we will judge ourselves on the field” Reid said. “They have made everyone better and forced us to put together a roster where we can compete with anyone. Our owner Josh Hodges worked hard to give us the best opportunity to be successful.”

The Legends next game is 7 PM Tuesday May, 19 at Ayala Stadium in Chino
